Monday, May 12, 2008- Recently, the Dallas Texas Fire Department invited Chase Frost to their annual awards banquet. Chase received a standing ovation from over 500 guests in attendance. Later that evening Chase was made an Honorary member of the Dallas Fire Department. They also presented Chase with a plaque made of patches from other local fire departments. Chase was one of two Parkside firefighters injured during a dwelling fire in 2007.

Ridley Township companies faced a fully involved tractor trailer fire prior to the noon hour. The command staff requested the 95 box alarm which includes two extra Engines, Boeing fire Crash Rescue and a 1500 tanker. Units quickly had the fire knocked and utilized the crash truck for foam. Companies were on scene for about two hours.

DARBY BORO, PA. - As companies were opening up and making an aggressive interior attack on a row home fire in Darby, a Boro Fire Policeman suffered a cardiac arrest while operating at the scene. LOWER CHICHESTER, PA. - With heavy hearts the Delaware County Emergency Services laid to rest Lt. Nick Picozzi from the Lower Chichester Fire Department who died in the line of duty while battled a house fire in Upper Chichester Township. UPPER CHICHESTER, PA. - In the morning hours the box was struck for the 100 block of Moser St. in Upper Chichester for the working house fire. Unfortunately, it was the final alarm for Lt. Nick Picozzi of the Lower Chichester Fire Company that was assisting on the fire. Lt. Picozzi’s death is the second L.O.D.D. in Delaware County in the last 7 months. Photos courtesy of Jay Hughes.

UPPER CHICHESTER, PA. - The Upper Chichester Township Fire Companies were dispatched to the Hub-Cap Jacks on Conchester Hwy for an alarm sounding. Tower 61 hit the street about 1 min after dispatch. F/B was receiving numerous calls that there was fire showing. The Call was then upgraded to a Box Alarm and Tower 61 requested R.I.T 45.

Tower 61 arrived with a 1 story commercial, with smoke showing on side A. The Tower placed an 1 ¾” handline in service. The crew from Eng 61 went to the roof to start ventilation. UC-9 (Montello) arrived

LANSDOWNE - Companies were dispatched for a dwelling fire, at 18 East Essex Ave. with fire reported to be in the basement. Companies arrived to heavy smoke pushing from everywhere in a 3 stry dwelling. Companies lead off with 1-3/4 water lines to the basement. Fire rapidly spread through the walls, to the upper floors and eventually thru the roof. Crews were evacuated from the building for an exterior attack. PHILADELPHIA - Units were alerted to 107 South Ruby st. for the dwelling fire. Batt-7 reported heavy fire in a 2 story middle of row dwelling. He placed all hands in service and requested 2 add’l engines and ladders on the box. Special call for Engine-13 and air unit-1. 1 elderly female was found doa in the property. SPRINGFIELD TWP - Company 44 was dispatched for the car into the house with 1 trapped at 273 School Lane. On arrival crews found an suv fully inside the house with serious structural damage and the occupant of the car still inside. DARBY - Companies were dispatched to 209 Glencove for the dwelling, with fire reported in the bedroom. PD arrived reporting a working fire. Cmd 04-9A arrived reporting heavy fire 2nd floor rear. Crews lead off with a 2-1/2" water line backed up by an 1-3/4, and made a quick knock on the fire. Medium smoke made it into the exposure dwellings with neg extension of fire. PHILADELPHIA - As Batt-10 arrived at 2300 Butler street, he reported heavy fire in a 2 story Mattress wharehouse. The bldg was irregular shaped approx 100 x 200. Fire fighters started an interior attack, but had extreme difficulty due to bldg construction being all brick with no windows for ventilation. The Batt requested the 2nd alarm and shortly afterwards evacuated the bldg due to an interior collapse. Crews then set up for an exterior attack. An exterior wall had 2 large collapses which also punched out a hole in a side wall, giving them better access to the fire. BROOKLINE - Companies arrived to 1620 Woodmere Way to encounter heavy smoke from the roof. Upon entry they found they had heavy fire in the basement and crews advanced a 2" line to the basement while others checked the 2nd floor and vented. Fire got above them in the basement at one point in a drop ceiling and extended thru the walls and duct work to a 2nd floor rear bedroom. Sharon Hill - Several thousand turned out today to bid farewell to one of our own. Sharon Hill and Homes Firefighter Michael Reagan, who died from injures sustain in a garage fire last week. FF Reagan and other firefighters were trapped when part of a garage wall collapsed on him while batteling the blaze. FF Reagan was laid to rest today with full honors. Almost every department in the county was represented along with others from surrounding counties and states. The staff at Firerescuenews.com offers our condolences to the family and departments that lost their "brother". Rest easy Mike, you are loved.

SHARON HILL - The Officers and Members of the Sharon Hill and Holmes fire companies regret to announce the death of Michael Reagan, due to injuries sustained from a building collapse at a fire on Wednesday night September 26th, 2007 . Visitation hours will be 3:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. on Thursday October 4th, 2007 at the Aldan Union Church located at #7 Providence road, Aldan Pa. 19018. Funeral services Will be held on Friday, October 5th, 2007. Please call Sharon Hill Fire Company at 610-583-7302 to receive staging information for the funeral.

SHARON HILL - At just past 2300hrs, the street assignment was struck for the 900 blk of Coates ave, reported as a detatched garage. Engine 09 reported a working fire in an attatched garage and started a water line. Shortly after Chief 099 arrived and took cmd, a supporting wall come down, bringing the roof with it, trapping several firefighters. Cmd quickly called for R19 (Lansdowne) for the R.I.T. and 3 additional ALS and 3 additional BLS to the scene. A second alarm was called for shortly after. Crews had the fire quickly in check as all manpower was requested to the front of the garage while crews dug their brothers from beneath the debris. EMS cmd, after seeing the severity of entrapment, called for a helo to the scene in anticipation of serious injuries. All 3 firefighters were removed from the building and transported to local hospitals along with 2 injured police officers. Cmd had the fire under control at the 1st 20 minute mark. Units were just returning from a fire alarm when the street asignment was struck for 5847 Woodbine Street for the reported dwelling fire. Engine-54 arrived reporting a 3 story dwelling with heavy fire through out, placing all hands in service with heaviest water lines. Batt-11 arrived confirming the engines report and noted a partial collapse, requesting the 2nd alarm. All hands were in service with numerous master streams. No injuries were reported.
